Tips of Effective Goal Setting

For a business or private person, setting goals is very important. It helps them to identify plans for their future and allows them to create a plan for realizing their dreams. The task of goal setting is not as simple as it might seem. Here are five tips of effective goal setting to help you with your plans.

1.Write down your goals. It is very important to write your goals down and post them where you will see them every day. This will help you be more committed to the goal and allow you to renew that commitment each and every day. People who do not write down their goals, do not achieve their goals.

2.Make sure your goals are realistic. Setting unrealistic goals is simply setting yourself up for failure. Do not make goals that you know are not attainable. It is also important to put a realistic time frame on your goals so that you do not get discouraged when you are not able to achieve the goal you set for yourself.

3.Prioritize your goals. Look at all of the goals that you have written down. Sort them by order of importance. The most urgent goals should be focused on first, and those of lesser importance can be accomplished once the others are met.

4.Set both long term and short term goals. Long term goals help you to plan for your future. They can be as short as a year or as long as twenty years from now. Short term goals allow you a sense of accomplishment on a more regular basis. If all of your goals are long term, then you will quickly be discouraged. Short term goals help you to stay on track.

5.Reward yourself. It is so important to celebrate when you reach your goals. It is also good to reward yourself when you achieve smaller milestones on the path to success. This helps you to stay motivated and focused. It also makes striving toward your goals much more fun!

Writing Goals effectively

Now that you have your goals down on paper, you can begin to schedule your day around what you plan to achieve. It is important to complete that step because everything that you do in your life, no matter how large or small should reflect in a positive manner on your goals.

Effective scheduling helps you to put everything down on paper that you need to do, helps you to positively identify the important tasks for you to complete to reach your goals and helps you to ultimately make decisions that are on target with your life.

The end result: you manage your time in the best way possible to make your goals reality.

With any form of scheduling, you need to analyze several key things. First, realize that you have a limited amount of time to make anything happen. Second, you need to find the best use of your time to obtain the goals that you have.

Now, here are some tips to help you to use proper scheduling to benefit your overall life, your time and your goal achievements.

1. Be realistic. Always plan for what can be accomplished in the right amount of time. Overbooking yourself does not help you in any way at all.

2. Plan for important things first. Giving yourself the ability to achieve your goals is important, but some things are must do things that you can not avoid.

3. Provide yourself with some level of flexibility. Bad things happen all of the time. Even just unexpected but important things need a place to be put when the time comes.

4. Do not over commit yourself. It can be quite powerful to say no to someone when you know that you just can not commit to it. This helps you to say yes to those things that are more important to you.

5. Always plan to use your time in the best manner possible.

When you do these things, you can put together a schedule that is well thought out and planned for success. A schedule like this that is used at work or in your business helps you to maximize the amount of time you have so that you dedicate all of your energy to the most important things, accomplishing more in a shorter amount of time. Then, you can have your time to yourself!

How can I make my work out be more effective? Do you have any tips?
I’m 18 and I’ve been exercising regularly for 4/5 days a week for 8 weeks now. I’m trying hard to seriously cut all or must of the sugary things I eat. I don’t drink sodas at all. I drink mostly green tea, fruit juices (I know they have sugar but it’s better then a coke), and I’m trying to drink more water.
My exercise regimen is 75 crunches, 25 on each side side bending type of exercise, squats and about 60 different reps of types of arm exercises using 2lb weights.
I’m not looking to be bulky just toned and to lose some weight. I’ve got about 5 months to really make a difference, I’m going to be a brides maid in my cousin’s wedding then I want to keep my body for my own wedding the following year.
I’m just looking for some suggestions or tips about how achieve my goals that I’ve set. Which is to drop 2 pants sizes so losing roughly about 30lbs.
Thanks for your answers. I really appreciate it!
I know that you have to get tone all over. But my big problem areas are back fat and my waist.

It sounds like your weight lifting is pretty good. With the arm exercises, make sure you are sore the next day, otherwise you’re not doing much good for yourself. If you are not sore, up your weights or reps (do not up both at the same time, you’ll over-exhaust your muscles)/

As for losing weight, the most effective way to do that is cardio. Weight lifting will not help you lose weight, it just helps tone muscle for the most part. Cardio does not have to be running/jogging; if you enjoy biking or skating/blading, do that for a half hour. Or go for a 30 minute walk a few times a week. Anything works, just check your heart rate every once and a while and make sure it’s going at a quicker pace than when you are resting.

As for what you are drinking, the green tea is great, and the fruit juices are definitely better than soda, but when you buy the fruit juices buy 100% juice, it has no sugar in it, so the only thing you’re not getting that you would from a piece of fruit is the fiber.
And make sure you’re eating healthy as well – a tip that’s worked well for me is to eat 5 small meals a day, rather than 3 big ones. Try to reduce desserts to once or twice a week (have a piece of fruit, or fruit smoothie if you’re craving something sweet), and get plenty of protein (but not too much! Your body can only use so much), and make sure you’re not eating a lot of red meat. You should keep servings of red meat down to once or twice a week, as white meats and nuts/beans are much better for you. (Peanut Butter is a great source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids – one of the only fats that is actually very good for your body).

If you ever need motivation, tell yourself you can have a starbucks coffee, or a slice of your favorite cake, once a week if you meet all your goals for the week. (But only once a week!)
